SWA Architecture Weekly Blog Post

Hello and welcome back to the SWA Architecture weekly blog post.  The blog where we take a look at all the beautiful projects SWA Architecture has worked on.  This week is no different.  If you haven’t seen our last couple of posts, check them out as last week was pizza week where we looked at some pizza places SWA Architecture helped bring to life.

This week we take a look at a spot on the a residential/commercial building in the heart of the Ladies Mile Historical District.  We are doing three floors and as you can tell we are just in the beginning of construction and will check in to see the progress.  Here is a free history lesson for those of you who are unaware of what the Ladies Mile Historical district entails.  It was a prime shopping district in Manhattan, New York City at the end of the 19th century, serving well to do “carriage trades” of the city.  It was designated in 1989, by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission to preserve an irregular district of 440 buildings on 28 blocks and parts of blocks, from roughly 15th street to 24th street and from Park Avenue South to Sixth Avenue.

Like the building we are looking at today, most buildings on the Ladies Mile Historical District are multi-story store and loft buildings.  These buildings became common after 1899 when laws prohibited areas without a permit, causing people who had previously worked at home to seek commercial spaces.  The rise of unions who advocated for better working conditions also contributed to the development.

Enough of the history lesson, now onto what SWA Architecture is responsible for.  We are the architectures, designers and interior designers for this project.  We are also the expeditors with the Department of Buildings and the Landmarks Preservation Commission.  This is our third project on this block.  Word gets around that we do a fantastic job.

Well I hope you learned a little bit about New York City and how SWA helps contribute to this fine city.  That’s it this week for the SWA Architecture weekly blog post.  Give us a follow on Instagram to see all the projects we have worked on - @swa_architecture

SWA Architecture Weekly Blog Post

Hello and welcome back to a bonus edition of the SWA Architecture Weekly blog post.  Where we take a look at all different projects that SWA Architecture has worked on.  We are continuing our pizza themed week and giving you a beautiful bonus post.  This post we will be focusing on the restaurant Lombardi's.

Lombardi's is located in the heart of Little Italy at 32 Spring Street, Manhattan.  Lombardi's was founded in 1905, making it the first pizzeria in the United States.  To this day Lombardi's still offers its beautiful, smoky-crusted coal oven baked pizza, topped with San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil, keeping locals and visitors alike coming back.

SWA Architecture are the architects, planners and expediters of this beautiful spot.  More specifically, we redesigned the layout and obtained place of assembly permits for the main floor and the rooftop seating.  The rooftop are the pictures below.  So if you have a craving for pizza, Lombardi's should be the your place to go.

That's it for pizza week at the SWA Architecture blog.  Stay tuned next week as we take some more deep dives into some beautiful projects.  Give us a follow on instagram if you haven't already - @swa_architecture

SWA Architecture Weekly Blog Post

Hello and welcome back to another SWA Architecture blog post.  The blog where we take a look at all different projects SWA Architecture has been a part of.  This week we have a themed week.  We're going to look at two different projects with a common theme between them - pizza!

Our first project, Don Pepi Pizza, is located in Port Authority right above Penn Station.  If you are hungry for a quick slice, I highly recommend this spot.  I may of had one or two myself recently.

SWA Architecture are the architects, interior designers and expediters for this project.  Although it looks like it was just built, this project was done by SWA over twenty years ago.  They're like a fine wine, they get better with age.  This was the first of two locations we did for this client.

That's it for this post.  Stay tuned for another pizza themed spot to come your way.  I don't want to hype our next spot too much, but this is a can't miss dynamite spot.  We are very proud to be a part of the next spot.  Curious? Wait and you shall see.  Also give us a follow on Instagram where you can see all the projects we have posted about - @swa_architecture

SWA Architecture Weekly Blog Post

Hello and welcome back to the SWA Architecture weekly blog post.  Hope everyone had a safe independence day.  This blog covers all different projects SWA Architecture has worked on.  So if this is your first stop, enjoy the countless posts before this and see the wide array of projects SWA Architecture has collaborated on.

This week we go back to our most famous client, McDonalds.  One of the largest franchises in the world, McDonalds has worked with SWA Architecture for a couple of years now.  SWA are the architects, designers, expediters and consultants for over 800 locations along the Northeast corridor, from Virginia through Buffalo, New York.  SWA has projects in Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts.  We weren't messing around when we said we had over 800 locations.

McDonalds is in the midst of a major renovation program which includes changing their visual brand of the buildings for all 16,000 stores across the United States.  You've probably seen some newer looking McDonalds in the past year.  If you haven't, take a look out for it now.

The pictures you see are of locations in New York.  The renderings are of locations in Washington DC and Virginia, providing you a wide range of what we are working on.  We are very proud of our partnership with McDonalds and are hopeful to take on anything they need from us.

That's it this week for the SWA Architecture weekly blog post.  Stay tuned for a possible bonus post giving you an update on a project that is near completion.  Also, give us a follow on instagram - @swa_architecture
