SWA Architecture Weekly Blog Post

Hello lovely people and welcome back to this weeks SWA Architecture weekly blog post.  This week we are taking a little bit of a detour and looking at building that is up for sale.  Located on 15 Vandam St, this family owned building is in one of the nicest neighborhoods in New York City.

This spot is also home to the renowned Soho Playhouse, one of New York City's best off-broadway theaters.  The current owners live out of town and would like to sell the property to a party who can make proper use of this location.  Other than the theater, there is a lounge on the lower floor, and residences on the upper levels.

SWA Architecture was retained to do a zoning analysis and 3-D models for purposes of marketing the building for sale.  Eastern consolidated, who frequently collaborates with SWA Architecture, is the broker charged with making the sale so send all inquiries their way.  Here is a look for all of you Architecture nerds out there -

That's it for this weeks edition of the SWA Architecture blog post, stay tuned for some dynamite posts coming up.  Again, if you haven't looked out our instagram, whats wrong with you?!  But in all seriousness take a look, our handle is @swa_architecture

Hello and welcome back to SWA Architecture's weekly blog post.  If this is your first time seeing this blog post let me tell you what we are all about.  We like to show you the projects that SWA Architecture has been a part of either as the architect or expeditor.  This week we have a very special place to show you.

Take a look at The Blue Note, one of the most famous jazz joints in the world.  The Blue Note has been around since 1981, and since its inception it has been a cultural icon in Greenwich Village.  The Blue Note's mission was to treat jazz musicians with respect while allowing patrons to view some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world.  Let me say, mission accomplished!

SWA Architecture is proud to be the architect and expeditor of this marvelous location.  SWA developed several seating layouts and legalized the Place of Assembly permits required for this place to seat all of its lovely guests.

Bonus Post from SWA Architecture

Hello and welcome to a bonus post from SWA Architecture's weekly blog post.  This week we look at a historic landmark site at 4 St. Mark's Place, known as the Hamilton Holly house.

This large town house at 4 St. Mark's Place in the East Village section of Manhattan was constructed in 1833.  It was designated into an individual Landmark designation in 2004.

Moving on the from the history lesson, SWA Architecture has proposed to make this building to have two floors of retail, a rear addition, insert a new residential floor in the rear (6 total apartments), a curved balcony at parlor level, and a complete restoration of the facade including brick work, stone work, windows, doors and slate roof.

As you can see from the pictures and what was written, SWA Architecture is really modernizing this beauty for the present day.  I can't wait to see the finished product.  That's all for this week, stay tuned next week where we take another deep dive into some interesting projects from SWA Architecture.
