SWA Architecture Weekly Blog Post

Hello and welcome back to the SWA Architecture weekly blog post.  If this is your first time reading this you are about to experience a delightful read where we take a look into restaurants, apartments, hotels and various other projects that SWA Architecture has been a part of in the greater Tri-State area.  This week we have the pleasure of showing you one of our most unique projects, Aska.

Located practically next door to our previously posted about restaurant, Miss Favela, Aska is a place that you don’t want to miss.  This Williamsburg gem provides a seasonal Scandinavian tasting menu and wine pairings in the most intimate of venues.  Many critics have touted Aska as America’s next great Nordic restaurant.

This all comes from the vision of Michelin starred chef and owner Fredrik Berselius.  If you have a chance to speak with him you immediately realize the passion he applies to this restaurant, and you can feel it in the love of the food he makes.  Chef Berselius was born in Stockholm, he moved to New York City in 2000 and in 2012 launched the pop-up Frej, which later became Aska (Swedish for ashes).  Aska’s second iteration opened in 2016.  Within 4 months this place was awarded two Michelin stars.

SWA Architecture is responsible for the architecture design, work on the beautiful interiors and expediting and NYC loft board approvals to make this project possible.  As you can tell by the pictures, the kitchen is visible to the customer so you can see the magic behind the curtain.  We are most certainly proud to be a part of this beautiful restaurant.

That’s it this week for the SWA Architecture weekly blog post.  Stay tuned next week for another beautiful post and give us a follow on insta, were growing fast - @swa_architecture
